The long-awaited reissue of the 1971 release work by “Japan’s first pornographic actress” Reiko Ike.

In 1971, she and Teichiku Records got together put out the album Kôkotsu No Sekai, which was called in English World of Ecstasy. The album was basically a novelty release. Only a thousand copies were ever pressed.

Her voice is low, mellifluous, and quite confident, and interestingly, a lot of the vocals are orgasmic moans and sighs. She does all this backed by Masami Kawahara & The Exotic Sounds, who had released a 1970 album with orgasmic vocals, so apparently this was a trend. It's weird at first, but after a while it's pretty effective, a whirlpool of Latin styled mondo-sexploitation sounds that get spiced up with feminine breathing and respiration sounds, moaning and hissing, igniting a maelstrom of assorted eroticism and sexual depravity. That may be a good way to describe Reiko's movies too.

In all, it resembles a caged vixen engaged in sexual intercourse, hatching out cries, moans, sighs, words and other sounds such as the crackling of a whip and such, bringing out fully every possible sound made by a ballbuster in heat. The name of Kuwahara Masami may be an unfamiliar one but he was the person responsible for giving Ike Reiko her distinct sound on the record “ Kokotsu no Sekai ” for which he provided the musical backbone and arrangements unto which Ike could utter her depraved songs."

The sex is literally dripping from every note on this record -- the style is "Iroke Kayôkyoku" or erotic kayôkyoku (kayôkyoku being a style of Japanese pop) but the sort of naïve jazz and pseudo spy theme movie music is all draped in a shroud of sexual shouts, screams and coos from the clearly excited Reiko. One must assume that she was in some kind of state of euphoria in the recording studio from the evidence on offer here, either that or she's a pretty realistic faker -- it's a smouldering collision, and that's about all that needs to be said. Kokotsu No Sekai has to be one of the finest gifts for the music fan in search of that killer oddity.

If you open the spread on the cover of the monument of Japanese-style product “Okiki Jake”, you can see photos from Toei movie “Contemporary Pornography Congenital Horny Woman”. And on the original version, there is a price difference of tens of thousands of yen depending on the presence or absence of the poster.
